Anti-virus and anti-spyware programs are wonderful things but, sorry, they just aren鈥檛 designed to catch spam. If you鈥檙e using Yahoo email just turn the spam filter on, it鈥檚 very effective. If you鈥檙e using Outlook, try MailWasher, it鈥檒l catch about 96% of spam.
I doubt that any one Anti Spam programme will catch everything but the best one out there by a mile is Sunbelt Softwares CounterSpy. I have used their Anti Spam programmes for years ( they used to produce Giant but sold it to Microsoft who have made a hash of it ) without any problems. The programme is very good and is backed up by excellent customer support. Be wary of opting for so called free programmes. Have a look at SpyWareWarrior www.spywarewarrior.com which has a database of known spyware programmes which mask themselves as Anti Spyware progs. Also have a look at CastleCops www.castlecops.com.
i use norton 360, there are lots out their, do your homework first!!
Spamfighter is great and it's free. really user friendly good updates glitch free although startup time for mail program does lengthen.
Put it this way i have norton and this has still allowed stuff through when i checked my registry i had 283 infections.
Most ISP's and webmail providers already have spam filtering as part of thier service. Ask your provider for more info
